Flood Statistics Draw Startling Conclusions

(Host) The Lake Champlain Basin Program has compiled how spring flooding has affected the region.

And it’s drawn some startling conclusions. At the height of the flood, when the lake level hit more than 103.2  feet, the surface of Lake Champlain increased by 66 square miles.

The Basin Program says an additional 867 billion gallons was sloshing in the lake at the time.

The level has since fallen, but the lake is still more than 2.5 feet above flood stage.
