Atrocious. That’s the way a Wolcott firefighter describes getting a ticket from the Lamoille County sheriff’s department stemming from an accident that occurred when he was on his way to a fire.

Sheriffs cited 37-year-old Matthew Secich for three traffic violations after he lost control of his Jeep went off the road and rolled over.

He got out and ran to a Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department garage before going to fight a chimney fire. He was cited for unreasonable speed for conditions, leaving the scene of an accident and negligent operation.

Sgt. Ronald Audet of the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department says Secich had a duty to stay with the vehicle after the accident, whether he’s a firefighter or not.
