Police in Brattleboro say there were no apparent injuries in a fire at a building with 59 residential units.
The fire was reported at about 8: 45 last night.
Police say emergency responders from Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts helped fight the fire.
The Brattleboro Reformer says the five-story building at the corner of High Street also houses several businesses.
One fire chief Jay says the building was not structurally sound.
