A huge fire destroyed a downtown block in Enosburg on Wednesday. Firefighters have been battling the blaze all day and say they have nearly put out the fire.

The fire broke out around 10:30 Wednesday morning in the so-called DePatie block on Main Street in the Franklin County town. The block housed a furniture and jewelry store, a restaurant and a martial arts studio. The second floor was all apartments.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or the cause of the fire. Many fire departments fought the fire, including one from Quebec.

Governor Jim Douglas was on his way to Enosburg to view the damage.
