Fifth candidate enters Rutland mayoral race

Next year’s mayoral race in Rutland is going to be one for the history books.

A fifth candidate has entered the race to succeed Retiring Mayor John Cassarino, the most candidates the city of Rutland has ever had.

The latest candidate to enter the race is David Trapeni, a businessman who runs a plumbing supply company.

Trapeni says the average wage in Rutland isn’t high enough to allow someone to buy a house or pay taxes. And he says taxes are too high.

While there are already four additional candidates, two other people are considering a run.
