FEMA Supplies Being Distributed

(Host) Vermont Emergency Management has begun to distribute supplies sent by FEMA for communities affected by Tropical Storm Irene.

Mark Bosma is a spokesman for the agency.

(Bosma) "They sent water and food and tarps and infant supplies that folks in some of those communities need because they’ve become cut off from the rest of the world for a few days now. "

(Host) Bosma is also urging people not to call 211 for road information.

He says 211 is a line dedicated to taking damage reports and volunteer requests, and that road information is available through 511.

(Bosma)  "511 has all of the state road information but unfortunately we’re not able to keep up with the local roads. "

(Host) Officials are still urging people to stay away from flooded areas, as power restoration and road repair is ongoing.
