(Host) State and federal officials say they’ve been able to measure some of the damage to homes and apartments from last week’s floods.

They say 700 homes were damaged or destroyed.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says 101 homes were destroyed and 423 suffered major damage.

FEMA says 23 rental properties were destroyed and 146 rentals were badly damaged.

Vermont Emergency Management spokesman Mark Bosma says the numbers are preliminary. There could be more damage reports that will come in over coming weeks.

Officials from FEMA and the state also say there are programs to help homeowners and renters find replacement housing. Information is available at 1-800-621-FEMA.
