FEMA crews assessing damage in Vermont

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has four crews in Vermont assessing damage from the storm that swept through the state earlier this month.

Yesterday, two crews were in Rutland County and one each in Bennington and Windham Counties doing a preliminary review of damage from high winds and heavy snow.

The preliminary assessment will be followed up with a more detailed review if the state decides to ask for federal help in responding to the disaster.

The state is asking cities and towns to document storm-related expenses. Officials say photos of damage and debris removal also will help.
