A probable cause hearing has been set for Friday for a man police believe may be linked to a series of shootings targeting churches, homes and a police station in the Northeast Kingdom.

Forty-eight-year-old John Davis, who’s from New Britain, Connecticut, was arrested yesterday after allegedly shooting out the back window of a police cruiser parked outside the St. Johnsbury Police Department.

When police caught him, he asked them to shoot him.

Vermont State Police Detective Lt. J.P. Sinclair says Davis hasn’t been charged in any of the 11 shootings across the Kingdom, but that police are investigating whether he may be involved. Officials with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, meanwhile, say he’s a "person of interest" in the shootings.

Meanwhile, a $2,000 reward’s being offered for information leading to the people responsible.

Davis’ attorney, federal public defender Michael Desautels, did not enter a plea for him during a first appearance yesterday in federal court in Burlington.
