The FBI has ended its investigation into the biggest heist in Vermont history, the $1.9 million armored car company theft in Rutland.

A single man with a gun overpowered two guards at Berkshire Armored Car in Rutland 11 years ago Thursday.

Despite the investigation by the FBI and Rutland police, the case has never been solved.

The Rutland Herald reports that for years the FBI posted information under the "seeking information" section of its website.

Now the FBI says the case is closed because the statute of limitations for the crimes has past.

The gunman handcuffed and tied both men before taking bags of money and making a getaway in a dark van.
