(Host) Some Vermont dairy farmers are hoping to band together to demand higher prices from milk processors. The National Farm Organization is planning a meeting in the Northeast Kingdom for Sunday.

Paul and Maureen Lehouillier of Irasburg are planning to attend. Maureen Lehouillier says milk prices are so low, she and her family are “barely making it” as dairy farmers:

(Lehouillier) “The thing that we’re questioning is that why some of the people in the middle – the handlers – why they’re not held accountable for the price that we’re receiving and why they can’t be forced to give us more.”

(Host) The National Farm Organization is trying to organize 20,000 dairy farmers across the country.
