Gov. Jim Douglas says the names of two Vermont law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty are going to be added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington.

Douglas says the names of Department of Motor Vehicle inspector Daniel Rossier and Addison County Sheriff’s deputy John Collette will be added during a ceremony next month that is part of National Police Week.

Rossier died after crashing his DMV motorcycle in Brattleboro in September 1935. Collette suffered a heart attack in July 1932 while arresting a fugitive.

The research that led to the honors for the two men was done by historian Brian Lindner and retired state police Major Wesley Newman.
