Vermont’s largest landline phone carrier says it’s continuing to expand its high-speed internet service in the state.

FairPoint Communications says its goal is to bring total high-speed Internet coverage to half of its exchanges this year.

Work is under way to expand broadband to Bakersfield, Enosburg Falls, Derby, Duxbury, Fairfax, Ferrisburgh, Goshen, Hancock and other towns.

The company says its high-speed service, dubbed VantagePoint, is fast enough to allow customers to download video, upload photos and play online games.
