The Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium in Saint Johnsbury is planning a major renovation and expansion.
The museum was founded in the late-19th-century by local scale manufacturer Franklin Fairbanks.
The Fairbanks has a wide variety of displays. They include mounted animals, political memorabilia and items from Africa, Egypt and Japan.
Executive Director Charlie Browne says the renovation project is aimed at shoring up a building that is showing its age.
Another goal is to make Vermont’s only public planetarium accessible to people with disabilities.
