Vermont’s largest hospital hopes to expand its services in upstate New York. Fletcher Allen Health Care has applied for permission to station an ambulance in Malone, New York. It would be used to transport patients who need special care from hospitals in New York to Fletcher Allen in Burlington.

Fletcher Allen already provides that transport. But right now, they are only licensed to leave from Burlington, which adds hours to the trip. Rick Barry, an administrative director at Fletcher Allen, says keeping an ambulance in Malone would save time and improve patient care.

Fletcher Allen’s application to expand its ambulance service was filed with the New York Department of Health.
