A group of Chittenden County residents opposed to basing the Air Force’s new fighter bomber at Burlington International Airport’s Air Guard station has hired a lawyer.

Attorney James Dumont has sent public records requests on behalf of the "Stop the F-35 Coalition" to the city of Burlington, the airport and the Air Force.

The Burlington Free Press reports Dumont has requested records regarding Act 250 applications, zoning permits, and possible compensation for local homeowners.

Dumont said the Vermont Supreme Court has ruled that airports are not entirely exempt from Act 250 provisions and that the "new use" the

F-35A represents could require Act 250 approval.
