Patients from the flooded Vermont State Hospital have been taken in at the Brattleboro Retreat.

Sixteen patients from the Waterbury facility were moved to the Brattleboro Retreat, where officials say they’re getting the care they need.

Peter Albert is senior vice president for government relations, and says the Retreat was called Aug. 29 to see if it could take the patients in.

After some quick preparations, a bus carrying them pulled into the Retreat.

Albert tells the Brattleboro Reformer that like other Vermonters who’ve pitched in to help their neighbors, the Retreat is happy to help.
