Essex-Charlotte Ferry Re-Opens

Ferry service between Essex, New York and Charlotte, Vermont has resumed.

The Lake Champlain Transportation Company says the ferry will operate Monday through Friday for commuters, until April 5th when it will resume service seven days a week. The first boat leaves Vermont at 7 in the morning.

The crossing was closed early this year so boats could be moved south to the Crown Point, New York — West Addison, Vermont crossing, where a ferry is operating in place of the demolished Crown Point Bridge. 24-hour, free ferry service continues at that crossing until a new bridge can be built over the lake.

The Essex-Charlotte ferry crossing will no longer be free, and will return to its normal rates and hours.
