Egg timers to keep NH House on track

With more than 200 bills to plow through in three days, New Hampshire House Speaker Teri Norelli has a plan to help debates stay focused.

The New Hampshire Union Leader says Norelli wrote to lawmakers last week to let them know that three-minute egg timers will be at the speaker’s podium during the three sessions that start Tuesday.

About 150 of the bills could be taken care of in a single vote with no debate since they are on the agenda in a section called the consent calendar. But that still leaves nearly 100 other bills to be voted up or down.
