Vermont Education Commissioner Armando Vilaseca is recovering from head injuries and a broken wrist after a fall while shoveling snow from the roof of his Westford home.

A department spokeswoman says Vilaseca fell Saturday and spent the rest of the weekend in intensive care at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. He is now out of the ICU and continuing to recover.

Spokesman Jill Remick says Vilaseca needs his rest, but he’s expected to make a full recovery.
