Dubie criticized for missing debates

Vermont lieutenant Governor Brian Dubie is defending his decision to skip some candidate debates and forums scheduled in the coming weeks. He says he’ll miss one that’s hosted by a coalition of Burlington-area women’s groups because he’ll be attending an awards ceremony at Crossett Brook Middle School in Duxbury.

Dubie’s opponents – Democrat Cheryl Rivers and Progressive Steve Hingtgen – say the Republican incumbent has been especially reluctant to appear before audiences that don’t support him. Dubie says he’ll attend ten debates and forums between now and Election Day. His campaign provided a list of five of them.
