A Vermont man is being treated at Massachusetts General Hospital for burns to his head and facial area, after his pickup truck caught on fire while he was driving home.

State police say 59-year-old Philip Russell was driving along Route 30 in Sudbury yesterday when the fire started. As the flames entered into the cab of the truck from under the dashboard, Russell leapt from the moving vehicle.

The truck and an accompanying trailer carrying horses stopped a short distance away. Police said Russell was able to let the horses out of the trailer before collapsing.
