(Host) Premier Jean Charest of Quebec spent the day in Vermont with Governor Jim Douglas to discuss the Vermont/Quebec relationship.

The two leaders reviewed updates on bi-lateral agreements, and held a symposium in Burlington.

Charest said the relationship between Vermont and Quebec is at an all-time high. And he applauded the cooperation between the regions on a number of issues, including energy, trade, and border security.

(Charest) “And security has become an area of very close cooperation among our respective people. Our respective police forces work together very closely. And we are also very very attentive and very mindful of border issues, and how we all need to address these key issues if our relationship will remain what it is.”

(Host) Following the symposium, the two leaders met with executives at IBM, and later with middle school students studying French in Essex.
