Domestic violence drives up crime rate

Domestic violence appears to be driving an increase in violent crimes in Vermont. Vermont’s 2002 crime report found that sexual assaults increased by 19% from 2001 to 2002, while aggravated assaults were up 10%. Yet, Vermont’s overall crime rate fell by 3.5% last year.
