Distance Hampers Effort To Fight Home Fire

Firefighters say a nearly impassable half-mile driveway hampered efforts to fight a fire that eventually destroyed a home in Cambridge.

Officials say dozens of firefighters responded to the New Year’s Day blaze at the house on Circling Hawk Road, but access to the two-story, wood-frame house made fighting the fire difficult.

Two people at the home when the fire broke out were unhurt. No firefighters were hurt, but two dogs are missing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Underhill Jericho Fire Department Chief Todd Fischer tells the Burlington Free Press that by the time crews were ready to fight the fire the house was too far gone to be saved.
