Disaster recovery centers have opened in Barre and Newport to help people and businesses affected by the spring’s severe storms and flooding.
The center at the Barre Municipal Auditorium and the mobile center at the Newport City Hall Gymnasium will be staffed by representatives from federal, state and local agencies who can provide information about storm-related services.
But disaster officials on Monday encouraged people and businesses affected by the storms and flooding to first register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The Barre center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. The mobile center in Newport will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
