Derby Offers Land For Dog Park

The town of Derby is offering town land for a dog park but won’t pay for its operation.

The Board of Selectmen voted Monday to offer the wooded property near Lake Salem.

Selectboard Chairman Brian Smith says the two-acre park will be insured by the town but managed by the Derby Dog Park Committee. The group also has to build a fence around the site.

The Caledonian Record says one of the proposed rules for the park would be that Derby is not liable for what happens in the park, and that owners would be responsible for their animals.
