Town leaders in Derby say they like the idea of a new 32-unit senior housing facility proposed by a developer.

Sheila Driver told members of the Derby Board of Selectmen on Monday that she wants a $25,000 state community development grant for the proposed Pleasant Acres Senior Housing development, which would be built on 10 acres on Shattuck Hill Road.

Chairman Brian Smith called it a great idea, but board members said they want to see more information before helping her seek the grant.

The Caledonian Record reports that the one-story facility would have four different kinds of units with common rooms.
