Vermont Congressman Peter Welch and New Hampshire’s Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter were on the losing side as the House failed to override the president’s veto of the intelligence bill.

The legislation was intended to prohibit the CIA from using tough tactics like waterboarding with terrorist suspects.

The vote fell mostly along party lines, with Democrats voting against the President’s veto and Republicans voting for it.

Hodes says he voted for the override because he opposes torture tactics like waterboarding.  Hodes says those techniques weaken the country’s moral authority in the global community and puts U.S. troops serving aboard in danger.
