The lawyer for a man accused of killing University of Vermont student Michele Gardner-Quinn is questioning a lack of evidence on Brian Rooney’s clothes or car linking him to the crime.

On the third day of the trial yesterday, defense attorney David Sleigh tried to show that lack of evidence through his questioning of Burlington Police Detective Ray Nails.

Under questioning from Sleigh, Nails agreed that there was no evidence found in Rooney’s Jeep or on his clothing or that Rooney’s Jeep had been cleaned up.

He described it as full of junk when police went through it.

Rooney is charged with raping and killinq Quinn in October of 2006 and dumping her body in the Huntington Gorge.
