Deer Feeding Charges Dropped Against Official

The state of Vermont has dropped an illegal deer feeding citation against a former representative on the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board.

Sixty-seven-year-old Keith Armstrong of Pownal was cited in December by a game warden for feeding pumpkins from his farm to deer. The ban was put in place because of the threat of chronic wasting disease. Armstrong said he had done nothing wrong.

The Rutland Herald reports in a notice of dismissal that Armstrong agreed to continue reducing the risk of conditioning deer to feed on discarded produce by dumping his pumpkins at random locations each season. Armstrong also agreed to not put waste pumpkins in managed wildlife food plots, or allow hunters to use tree stands within 100 yards of the places where he discards pumpkins.
