Deegan To Pay Back One State Overpayment

A former Vermont state trooper charged with falsifying his time sheets says he’s writing a check to the state. That’s after Sergeant Jim Deeghan was told the payroll office over-credited him in calculating his final paycheck.

Deeghan told the Burlington Free Press he’ll be sending the amount back and won’t contest it now, but might later.

The state payroll office says it over-paid Deeghan nearly one-thousand dollars in calculating his final check.

Deeghan resigned last month. He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of falsifying time reports.
