Governor Howard Dean says President Bush still hasn’t made a strong enough case for a strike against Iraq. Dean told a national television audience September 29 that he believes the United States must first gain international support.

He made the comments while appearing on the CBS program “Face the Nation.” Dean said he now considers Saddam Hussein to be a more serious threat than he did previously. But Dean said now is the time for getting the cooperation of the United Nations Security Council and U.S. allies.

His appearance came as he travels the country in preparation for a bid for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination. Dean expects to formally announce his candidacy in January after he leaves the governor’s office. (AP)
