Dartmouth scientist Walter Stockmayer dies at 90

A retired Dartmouth College chemistry professor known for his study of the structure and dynamics of polymer molecules has died. Walter H. Stockmayer died at his home in Norwich on Sunday. He was 90.

Stockmayer was on the Dartmouth faculty from 1961 to 1979, but continued to teach and advise Dartmouth students through 2002. In 1987 Stockmayer was awarded the National Medal of Science by President Reagan.
