Thanksgiving isn’t the only food tradition celebrated at this time of year. Every year on the Thursday after the opening of rifle season, people flock to the Danville Game Supper. The feed is put on by the parishioners of the Danville Methodist Church. VPR’s Ric Cengeri attended last week’s Game Supper.

The Danville Game Supper was first held in 1921 and claims to be the state’s oldest.

This year moose, beaver, venison, bear, rabbit, wild turkey and chicken pies were served.
