The attorney for a man charged along with his wife in the killing of a popular St. Johnsbury teacher says it’s likely he’ll ask that the trial be moved out of Caledonia County.

Defense attorney Dan Maguire made the comment in court Thursday as part of a status conference on the pending trial of Allen and Patricia Prue.

The Prues are charged with luring Melissa Jenkins from her Danville home in March of  2012, beating and strangling her and dumping her body in the Connecticut River.

Thirty-one-year-old Allen Prue has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. Thirty-four-year-old Patricia Prue pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated murder.

Maguire said he could be ready for trial by October.
