Contractor Selected For Bridge Demolition

Plans are moving forward for the demolition of the Crown Point Bridge. Vermont and New York transportation officials say they’ve selected an explosives contractor from Idaho for a controlled demolition.

Officials still have not released a date. But they say the contractor will establish safety protocols for both workers and the public. Spectators will be prohibited from the area immediately surrounding the bridge and certain roads will be restricted.

The bridge was closed in October after it was found to be unsafe for automobile and pedestrian traffic.  Five new replacement bridge designs will be displayed tomorrow at a series of meetings in Ticonderoga.
