Product stewardship is a new movement that argues manufacturers should be responsible for their products from the cradle to the grave.  There are currently three active bills in the Vermont Legislature modeled on this notion of extended producer responsibility – making manufacturers pay for recycling and disposing of their own waste. 

VPR’s Jane Lindholm discusses the division of corporate and consumer responsibility with Jen Holliday, chair of the Vermont Product Stewardship Council, and Senator Ginny Lyons, chair of the Natural Resources and Energy Committee.
