Congressional Delegation Largely Supports SOTU

Vermont’s congressional delegation is weighing in on President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.

Congressman Peter Welch says he’s encouraged to hear the President embrace important priorities like ending the war in Afghanistan, a balanced approach to reducing the national debt and confronting climate change.

Welch said was particularly pleased to hear the president embrace a policy of energy efficiency that was pioneered in Vermont.

Senator Patrick Leahy said the president gave a clear call to action on immigration reform and gun violence, and his Judiciary Committee will begin taking a look at immigration reform today.

Senator Bernie Sanders says he looks forward to working with the administration on job creation, improving preschool and combating climate change.
