Earlier this month, a barn at Pete’s Greens in Craftsbury burned down. It was where the organic vegetable producer stored crops, meats, and vegetable cleaning and processing equipment.

For over 15 years, the farm owned by Pete Johnson has been providing vegetables to people who want to eat more local food.

The localvore community has been feeling the loss, and so many have rallied around Pete’s Greens to help raise money to keep the operation going.  Local musicians, including two from Phish will be holding a concert next week, City Market has been raising money. Another one of these efforts is Bid for the Barn by the Mad River Valley Localvore Project.

Robin McDermott of the Mad River Valley Localvore Project tells VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb that Pete’s Greens means a lot to the community.
