After a young hiker in Ripton was reported missing one evening last winter, questions were raised about why a search wasn’t organized until the next day.  The young man, Levi Duclos, died. And the legislature charged a committee with figuring out where the gaps in the system are and who should lead future search and rescue operations.

That committee has now finished meeting and approved its final recommendations. Neil Van Dyke, Team Leader for Stowe Mountain Rescue served on the committee. He spoke with Vermont Edition about recommendations the group is making to the Legislature.
