Come Summer, Pianos Will Pop Up Throughout The Upper Valley

(Host) If you’re spending time in the Upper Valley this July, you may notice something unusual: a proliferation of pianos. 

To celebrate its 50th anniversary season, the Hopkins Center at Dartmouth College is sponsoring a piano "street project" that will have pianos turning up in parks, bus stops, general stores, and other unexpected locations. 

VPR’s Neal Charnoff speaks with programming director Margaret Lawrence about "Hands On Pianos". 

NOTE: For those who may consider donating, it’s worth noting that pianos in outdoor locations will be protected from the elements.  At the end of the project, the pianos will be mined for usable and recyclable parts. For more information, see link below.
