CLF Will Testify Against New School Project

An environmental group will be able take part in hearings on whether a land-use permit should be granted for a new school in Bennington.

The Vermont Environmental Board [last week] gave the Conservation Law Foundation permission to participate in the Act 250 process for a middle school proposed for the Mount Anthony Union High School district.

The decision reverses a December ruling by the District Eight Environmental Commission. The board says CLF has a track record of providing useful, expert testimony in complex cases. And it’s the only group opposing the project.

CLF officials say the school will promote unchecked growth on the edge of town.
