Clean Air lawsuit filed against EPA

Vermont is one of 12 states and several Northeast cities that is suing the Environmental Protection Agency to block changes to the Clean Air Act. New EPA rules make it easier to upgrade industrial facilities without installing additional pollution controls. The rule changes were proposed by the Bush Administration and became final on Monday. The attorneys general for the states that filed the suit argue the new regulations will weaken protections for the environment and public health.
