Claremont, NH, legislators leave office

Two state representatives from Claremont, New Hampshire, are both leaving that state’s Legislature. When Representative Sandra Harris lost re-election in a recount, her husband decided to give up his own seat in the New Hampshire Legislature. Joe and Sandra Harris are both Democrats from Claremont. Both have served two full terms and both were up for re-election November 2.

Joe Harris says he resigned because he can’t leave his wife alone three or four days a week while he serves in Concord. Sandra Harris is still recovering from a car crash last Spring.

The Joe Harris’s seat could remain vacant until the next general election, or his district could decide to hold a special election in March.
