Prominent civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton spoke at Middlebury College last night, telling a packed house of 675 people to get involved and be agents of change.
In addition to those who watched in Mead Memorial Chapel, 700 students crowded into satellite venues on campus to see Sharpton, who organizers say was invited because of a growing interest in activism among college students.
Sharpton told them that despite the election of President Barack Obama, the fight – for civil rights and equality – would go on.
He says he’s known Obama for years and that he doesn’t always agree with him but that Obama has a chance to make a dramatic difference in America.
