The number of empty offices in Chittenden County is at a record high.
A new analysis released Friday showed that the vacancy rate in the state’s most populous county is at over ten percent, up from just over 7 percent six months ago.
The report by South Burlington real estate analysis firm Allen and Brooks says there’s over 700,000-square feet of empty office space.
The 15-year average vacancy rate for Chittenden County is 6-percent.
One business that left Vermont recently is Qimonda. That company announced in December it was moving its operations from Williston to Raleigh, North Carolina. The move left 30,000-square feet of office space vacant.
