Voters picked candidates for state’s attorney in yesterday’s primaries in Chittenden and Washington counties.

Democrats chose 32-year-old Thomas TJ Donovan of Burlington to be Chittenden County’s top prosecutor.

In Washington County, deputy state’s attorney Tom Kelly beat incumbent Craig Nolan in a Republican primary.

Donovan, a former deputy Chittenden County state’s attorney beat Rob Backus and Ted Kenney. He faces Republican John Saint Francis, a deputy state’s attorney, in the November election.

Kelly of Barre faces Democrat Colin Seaman in November. Kelly unseated Nolan who was appointed by the Douglas administration last year to fill out the term of the late Terry Trono.
