Child dies of influenza

The Vermont Health Department says a two-year-old Windsor County child died from the flu earlier this week. Officials say the child had a serious, pre-existing medical condition.

Most people who get flu recover in a week or two, but young children, the elderly and people with serious medical conditions are at highest risk for life-threatening complications.

Health Commissioner Doctor Paul Jarris says that despite the national reports about the flu, there is no reason to believe this season’s flu strain is more lethal than other years.
