The chief suspect in the death of a University of Vermont student is due in court in Saint Johnsbury later today.

Thirty-six-year-old Brian L. Rooney is to be arraigned on a charge of sexual assault on a minor and lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.

Neither charge is related to the death of 21-year-old University of Vermont senior Michelle Gardner-Quinn.

Her body was discovered near the Huntington Gorge in Richmond on Friday, a week after she disappeared while walking from downtown Burlington to the U.V.M campus.
